Original Prints

Inkjet printing onto archival fine art papers is sometimes referred to as 'giclée'. It is this combination of large-format professional quality printers and pigment inks, together with beautiful papers, that ensures the optimum aesthetic of the art piece, as well as retaining the colours of the image over a lifetime that only pigment inks can provide.

The process of printing can be a daunting one and takes years to hone the ability to achieve a desired finish. The process of creating prints is personal, and emotionally rewarding, seeing a photograph become a tangible object inspires to produce more, and reflect on how an image will look best in physical form than the transient nature of displaying an image on a screen.

All prints available here have recommended sizes, but alternative sizes may be discussed.

PAPER

Great care to ensure each image is printed on the best fine-art archival-quality paper, and checked for absolute perfection before being sent to you. Each paper selected represent the image the best way possible and help you feel more connected with the subjects in them. Kagetsu’s preference for matte cotton rags gives a supple surrealistic texture to the pieces, and reduced glare from reflected light, and with modern advances, longevity of the print is no longer sacrificed in order to give amazing colour, and deep blacks.

Environmental responsibility

When photographing environments that are particularly in danger of disappearing, an appreciation for conservationism and environmental responsibility becomes a factor. All prints are produced in a vegan friendly manner, only using papers that are cruelty free.

EDITIONS

LIMITED EDITION PRINTS: Featuring prints (giclée) of the highest quality and the maximum sizes available to modern archival printing techniques, each print has a maximum print size of 152cm (~60 inches) on the short edge. Each is hand signed, titled and numbered in pencil or pigment ink in cases where the substrate won’t work with pencil (semi-glossy surfaces). Each piece is customised to your wishes for the piece and where it’ll ultimately live. The final flourish is an embossing in the lower right hand corner of the border, a seal of final approval of the printed piece.
Each limited edition print is in a run of 6, and will never be repeated. The only exception to this rule is the Antarctica prints, which are in runs of 10 of which two are reserved for conservation purposes.

ARTIST PROOFS: From time to time, an artist proof will be created. Each piece will be limited to a single AP and are primarily used for the purposes of art prizes, and single entrant shows where the size of the final print is restricted.

PHOTOGRAPHERS EDITION PRINTS: Some of the best collectors of photography are photographers themselves. Naturally it’s a costly exercise to collect other photographers works and I offer these 17” x 11” prints to photographers from all locations including postage. They’re open editioned though still numbered and hand signed in pigment pen, printed on satin Baryta.
