New Zealand

This small country punches well above its weight for postcard beauty. Ranging from superb golden beaches to volcanic and alpine nature, fjords and valleys to forests. A stunning location everywhere you turn. In addition, the interactivity of bird life with humans, friendly pukekos, to pecky ducks and dopy kererūs who bump into you mid flight, and of course the iconic kea ensure every avid twitcher has a great time.

The lack of aggressive/dangerous or venomous wildlife in New Zealand makes for a refreshing change to Australia… photographing locations in the middle of a waterway becomes less about being killed by a crocodile and more about ensuring you don’t slip over and destroy your camera equipment, or get too cold. Though the midges in NZ are certainly at a different level than any I’ve experienced.

All New Zealand images here are available in limited edition prints of six.
