Derelict

$120.00

Location
Whalers Bay, Deception Island - Antarctica 2014

Information
Southeast of the rusted main whale oil silos is the location on the beach where the dead whales would be hauled to the shore and processed. The bones of the whales still remain littered throughout the beach, and these boats lay drying in the Antarctic air, witnessing the occasional eruption.

Despite the snow and proximity to water, Antarctica is considered the driest desert in the world, an environment that dries and preserves wood preventing decay and rot.
