One of the most rewarding moments when visiting Antarctica is the unexpected interactions. It’s required that people visiting Antarctica keep a safe distance from all wildlife, and refrain from interacting where possible. The reality is, it’s a wild place, and wildlife doesn’t follow our rules.

This juvenile Antarctic Fur Seal found our landing team an exciting distraction from his daily duties, and decided to inspect the team.

Ultimately he would come into our group within centimetres at times, where care had to be taken not to antagonise him.
